Hi Well, I guess summer's nearly over, the days are getting shorter, and the nights are quite cool. I actually enjoy the changing of the seasons, although I feel a bit sad that summer is over. But the fall can be gorgeous here on the west coast, so I'm going to enjoy every minute of it!
Well, the Valley Women's Network Extreme Makeover is finished, and last week, at their monthly luncheon, they had their big reveal. Karen & her business partner Janice of Spectrum Presentations, did a great job on their powerpoint presentation of Karen's experiences with her various makeover donators. Karen looked fabulous and did a wonderful testimonial for all the Extreme Makeover Participants. Getting Back Into Your Workout Routine Now that people are back from their summer holidays, and the kids are back in school, it's time to get back into your fitness routines.
What ever your fitness goals are, remember to take it slow, especially if you've been off for several months. If you need to lose a little weight, just determine to eat a healthy diet, and watch your portions. As for exercise, start back slowly, and pay attention to how you feel. For instance, if you are starting a running program, start by walking for a few minutes to warm up, then run for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then walk again until you feel ready to run some more. Start out with a 20 or 30 minute walk/run and work from there. As you progress, you will be able to run for longer periods of time without walking. After you've got back into your cardio routine, then add some resistance training to strengthen muscles, and help you burn additional calories.
Going out and running for 30 - 40 minutes after you've had some time off will just net you sore legs, and a longer recovery period and prevent you from going out again. It's always better to take it slow and steady!
